Vancouver Maritime Museum Joins the Row
We are very pleased to welcome the Vancouver Maritime Museum as our latest supporters of the row.
We popped over to the Vancouver Maritime Museum last week to see our friends Anthony Sessions, Ian Hopkinson and the Director of the museum, Kenneth Burton. We were presented with a very appropriately timed (completely coincidental!) piece on commitment and the magic that happens once you commit to something like this.
We were so moved by it that we wanted to share it here:
Until one is committed
There is hesitancy, the chance to draw back
Concerning all acts of initiative (and Creation)
There is one elementary truth
The ignorance which kills countless ideas and splendid plans:
That the moment that one definitely commits ones self
Then Providence moves too.
All sorts of things occur to help one
That would never otherwise have occurred.
A whole stream of events issues from the decision
Raising in one’s favor all manner
Of unforeseen incidents and meetings
And material substance
Which no one could have dreamt
Would have come your way.
Whatever you can do or dream you can, begin it.
Boldness has genius, power and magic in it.
From W.H. Murray’s intro to The Scottish Himalayan Expedition (1951)
We have experienced amazing support for this project since we officially signed up over 2 years ago and so it would appear there is truth to the words “Boldness has genius, power and magic in it.”
We are hugely grateful for the museums support in our endeavour. We look forward to making them proud!
